A Persian Wedding at Garza Blanca Cancún

Laila and Arash came to Cancún to get married the way they wanted to, a Persian wedding carried a long way from home and set down on the edge of the Caribbean. What stays with me about their day is how easy it was. Some couples you have to warm up; these two were relaxed from the first minute, always smiling, good vibes the whole way through. It's the kind of day that photographs itself, because nobody's performing.

The morning was unhurried. Arash by the window with his collar and cufflinks, the groomsmen out on the balcony lifting a toast over the water. In her room, Laila fastened a baroque pearl necklace and stacked gold rings, her beaded gown and lace veil waiting beside her.

For the portraits we let light lead. A hard edge of sun across a bare wall, a circle of light wrapping around her, a deep wash of red. Her bouquet held the colors of the day, coral and burgundy anthurium, trailing amaranthus, hydrangea and orchids.

Then out into the grounds, past the palms and the white lines of Tierra Luna, stopping at the old carousel as the light turned gold. The ceremony was outdoors, framed by palm trees and a floral arch, with their people close on either side. The decor and the flowers were extraordinary.

A wedding at Garza Blanca could lean on the setting alone. What made this one Laila and Arash's was how little it needed from any of us, just an easy, happy couple and the room to enjoy their own day.

Frequently Asked Questions About Garza Blanca Cancún Weddings

No. Garza Blanca hosts a single wedding per day, so the beach, the ceremony spaces, and the staff are entirely yours. Compared to resorts running several events at once, it's a real difference in how the day feels.

Does Garza Blanca Cancún host more than one wedding per day?

Where can you hold a ceremony at Garza Blanca Cancún?

The resort offers a few options depending on guest count and vision — the Elite Terrace, a stone terrace near the beach with Caribbean views, beach ceremonies, and garden spaces. Laila and Arash married outdoors at Tierra Luna, framed by palm trees and a floral arch.

Can you bring your own vendors and plan independently?

Yes. Garza Blanca accommodates outside vendors and independent planning, though vendor fees apply. Laila and Arash worked with Dream Weddings as their coordinators and brought in their own florist, DJ, decor, and more.

What's the best light for photos at Garza Blanca Cancún?

Midday sun is direct and harsh, so portraits usually start in open shade and build toward golden hour. One quirk of this property: the sun rises over the sea and sets over the jungle, which shapes where you shoot and when.

Is the carousel at Garza Blanca good spot for portraits?

It's one of the property's hidden gems. The carousel area faces the direction the sun actually sets and gives a completely different look from the beach — worth asking your photographer to take you there near golden hour.

How many guests can Garza Blanca Cancún accommodate?

It handles large weddings comfortably — the beach reception area has hosted celebrations of well over 100 guests with round tables, a dance floor, and a full bar.
